Design Documentation Guidelines

NEW TOOL BENEFITS CLIENTS, CONSULTANTS & BUILDERS

Design Documentation Guidelines - working together to create successful projects.

For years the building sector has lacked a common language on the varying types of design services available, as well as their applicability to particular building requirements. This has created misunderstandings for designers and builders, and for their clients. And from misunderstanding, costly problems emerged.

The industry (through the Construction Industry Council) has picked up this challenge and developed a set of guidelines, which clearly define the various design stages possible in a building project, as well as comprehensive checklists on the range of services available. This will be of immense benefit to clients who wish to discuss their particular needs with builders, architects, engineers, or others involved in building projects.

The Guidelines cover (in pdf format)

A comprehensive Preamble defines the documentation guidelines in more detail, and how they are best used.

Anyone and everyone involved or interested in the building sector is encouraged to utilise the guideline documents in their projects. Feedback on their ease of use, suitability etc is warmly welcome. All comments or queries should be directed to the NZCIC dir.eng@ipenz.org.nz
